Sarah is a New Zealand registered occupational therapist, having trained in the UK. Before moving to New Zealand, with her family in 2003, Sarah worked in the UK within mental health, working in the field of stress management. She then moved on to be a manager at Kent Social Services and with a young family took on private practice completing ergonomic and workplace assessments under the government's return to work scheme. Clients included the Metropolitan Police and Virgin Airways.
Sarah has also worked in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia, completing vocational assessments and rehabilitation for insurance companies.
With the move to New Zealand, Sarah continued with her passion for occupational therapy within vocational rehabilitation becoming a provider for ACC. In 2008 Sarah trained as an interior designer with the aim to combine her ergonomic skills with aesthetic design.
In 2013 Sarah established Design Ergonomics, combining ergonomics and design - "future proofing for the person". The need to combine good ergonomics with sound design has been evident, but increasingly companies have been requesting more well-being interventions to help manage stress and mental fatigue.
Sarah maintains her own wellbeing by following the 5 Ways to Wellbeing with walking, cycling, yoga, mindfulness and is always learning.
